Judge John A. O’Meara was appointed to be a judge by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2016. Prior to his appointment, Judge O’Meara practiced law in Illinois for over two decades.
After prosecuting cases for the Corporation Counsel’s Office, Judge O’Meara went into private practice as litigator. Initially Judge O’Meara represented insurance companies before dedicating himself to the representation of families and victims of wrongful death, product liability and other torts.
A graduate of the John Marshall Law School and 2017 inductee into the prestigious JMLS Hall of Distinction, Judge O’Meara currently presides at the Daley Center hearing jury and non-jury civil cases and post judgment proceedings.
As a sitting judge, Judge O’Meara treats everyone who enters his courtroom fairly and with respect.
